Providing Emergency Medical Funds For
Service /Assistance Animals

How It All Began
The Sergey Foundation was established as a non-profit organization, which provides funding for training Service Animals. This group has a governing Board of Directors who must unanimously agree on each request to help, train or place a Service Animal.
The Foundation was initiated by Ron McGrady of Cedarwoods Canine School when he learned of one of his past student’s, Lloyd Marusiak, dilemma about his dog’s medical needs. Sergey, a highly trained, tracking dog, had been injured and would have been forced into an early retirement.
As with most Service and Assistance Animals, their owners are solely responsible for the animal’s needs. However, the cost in these situations is often above and beyond the average owner’s ability to pay.
That’s how it all began. Out of the generosity of students at Cedarwoods, the cost of Sergey’s surgery was met. Other donations that came in were directed for use in helping other deserving Service Animals.
From there the scope has expanded to also train and place Assistance Dogs.
