Basic Obedience (On-leash)

Embark on an 8-week journey to a well-trained and obedient dog with our Basic Obedience class series. Each class is thoughtfully structured to focus on individual students and their dogs, ensuring personalized attention and effective learning. Our experienced dog trainer will guide you through each lesson, providing clear explanations and sharing the underlying reasons behind the training techniques. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the exercises, our trainer will showcase the skills using one of our trained Cedarwoods dogs. Witness firsthand how these techniques can transform your dog’s behavior.

We prioritize individual attention and a distraction-free learning environment by holding sessions in your home or at an agreed upon location. This focused approach ensures that your dog grasps the training concepts more effectively, setting a solid foundation for obedience.

Skills Taught in the Course

Throughout the Basic Obedience Class, your dog will acquire essential skills that lay the groundwork for a well-mannered and obedient companion. These skills include:

• Attentiveness: Develop a strong focus on themself, even in the presence of distractions.
• Loose Leash Walking: Learn to walk calmly and beside you without pulling.
• Sit and Stay: Sit automatically when you stop, and maintain both Sit-Stay and Down-Stay positions.
• Recall, Stand, and Finish: Understand and respond reliably to commands for recall, standing, and finishing.

Class meets once a week for 8 weeks in your home or at an agreed upon location. 

Advanced Obedience (Off-leash)

Our 12-week Off-Lead Course equips your furry friend with the skills necessary to reach new heights in their obedience journey. In this section, we will delve into the specific benefits and features of our course, highlighting the transformative impact it can have on your dog’s behavior and overall development.

• Enhanced Focus and Impulse Control: Through carefully crafted exercises and progressively challenging tasks, our Off-Lead Course nurtures a heightened level of focus and impulse control in your dog. They will learn to resist temptation, ignore distractions, and respond promptly to your commands, even when off-leash. These invaluable skills will have a positive ripple effect in various aspects of your dog’s life, leading to better behavior, improved manners, and increased safety.
• Off-Lead Freedom: Nothing compares to the freedom and trust that comes with having your dog off-leash. Our course gradually introduces off-leash training in a controlled environment, ensuring your dog is reliable and responsive even without physical restraint. By learning to listen to your commands without the need for a leash, your canine companion can enjoy more freedom during outdoor activities, such as hiking, running, or playing fetch.
• Strengthened Bond: Training sessions are not only an opportunity for your dog to learn and grow; they also foster a deeper connection between you and your pet. Our Off-Lead Course promotes teamwork, communication, and mutual understanding. Classes meet once a week for 12 weeks.

Private Lessons

We offer Private Lessons to focus on specific behavior issues or other problem areas that need more attention than what is covered in the Basic Obedience classes. Often times, this can be resolved in one or two lessons however we are willing to meet as many times as it takes.

Private lessons are available for $100 per lesson.
